Young ecologist on beauty of London’s wild spaces

A young urban ecologist has been making an impact on social media by creating videos to raise awareness about the animals that live in London.

Akash Barua, 24, from Peckham in south-east London, started to develop his love for nature when visiting family in Scotland and from there started to look at wildlife in the capital.

He has got a graduate ecologist position carrying out bat surveys, which usually means working at night, but in his free time he makes social media videos, including an Instagram series called “Wild Endz” which has looked at the beavers in Ealing and the sparrows and parakeets of Peckham.
