Women’s Super League: Aston Villa sign Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey on a free transfer from Everton.

The 25-year-old spent four years on Merseyside after an initial loan spell in 2022.

Ramsey will compete with Sabrina D’Angelo and Ellie Roebuck for a starting spot at Villa.

“It felt like the right time for a new challenge,” she said. “I’m excited to play at Villa Park on the right side of the team, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season.”

Ramsey has represented England at junior levels up to the under-23s and was called up to the senior side in 2023.

She also had loan stints at Sheffield United, West Ham and Birmingham City while at Manchester United, where she made six appearances over a five-year period.

Villa’s director of women’s football Marisa Ewers added: “Emily is a goalkeeper with strong experience in the WSL and a real desire to continue developing her game.

“She has arrived at Villa eager to challenge herself and contribute to the group.”
