Women’s skeleton World Cup: Great Britain’s Freya Tarbit wins bronze in Beijing

Great Britain’s Freya Tarbit maintained her fine start to the women’s skeleton World Cup season with a third-placed finish in China on Saturday.

Tarbit, 24, who won gold in South Korea last weekend, was tied for first place alongside China’s Zhao Dan after the opening run at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre, near Beijing.

But she dropped down the field following a handful of mistakes at the end of her second run, finishing 0.41 seconds behind eventual winner Zhao.

Germany’s Hannah Niese, who won Olympic gold on this track in 2022, finished second, while GB’s Tabby Stoecker was fourth.

Britain’s Amelia Coltman, who won her first World Cup race in the opening event of the season, was 14th.
