A woman has been left shaken after she was inside a house as it was set alight, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has said.

It happened at about 03:05 BST in Gweebara Park, Londonderry, on Saturday.

A man reportedly poured a form of accelerant onto the front porch and door before setting it alight and making off on foot.

The woman was not injured, police added.

Damage was caused to the front door area of the house and emergency services attended the fire.

The man was believed to have been wearing a dark-coloured hooded top, with the hood up and his face covered, and dark tracksuit bottoms.

Police are treating the attack as arson with intent to endanger life and have appealed for information.
