A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a child.
Hertfordshire Police were called to Juniper Square, a new residential area in Hemel Hempstead, at 16:40 BST on Sunday.
Police said the child was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards.
A woman was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
