Welsh Lib Dem leader says party should be more exciting

Part of the solution, Dodds argued, was making sure people know the Liberal Democrats have plans and policies to improve their lives.

She called for her party to “do more” on issues such as climate change and wealth inequality.

Dodds said: “This summer the green fields of Wales turned brown.

“Wildfires occurred everywhere and kept reoccurring. This has surely brought home how important climate change is to us all.”

Politicians could not afford “silence” on the issue and need to have honest conversations with the public that are “not easy”, she added.

“We have to be honest about what comes next: where our food comes from, flying less, real investment in public transport, and making it easier, for a family to choose an electric car over a petrol one.”

The MS for Brycheiniog Tawe Nedd also said there needed to be protections for people whose jobs are affected by artificial intelligence.

“We need to tax the wealth on AI and create a wealth fund that allows us to pay a universal basic income so that the gains of that revolution are shared by everyone not just hoarded by a handful of companies on the other side of the Atlantic,” said Dodds.
