Weather warning: Yellow alert for strong winds across NI

Belfast City Airport said there may be some disruption to flights and that passengers should to check the status of their flight.

A list of advice and emergency numbers is available, external on the NI Direct website.

It comes as Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations were cancelled due to the weather.

The Met Office had previously issued a yellow warning for snow in Northern Ireland from 07:00 GMT on New Year’s Day until midnight, but this has since been cancelled.

In the Republic of Ireland, weather warnings for strong winds have been issued for three counties on Tuesday.

Irish weather service Met Éireann is warning of potentially difficult driving conditions for counties Donegal, Galway and Mayo.

A yellow warning for rain has also been issued for counties Donegal and Kerry.
