Waterworks Park: Birdwatchers embrace Belfast parakeets

The majority of the UK’s wild parakeet population can be found in south-east England – but some of them have made their way to Belfast’s Waterworks Park.

They’re listed as an invasive species in the UK and have been known to disrupt native birds and bats.

Amateur wildlife photographers have been flocking to the north Belfast park to try to get a picture of its tropical new arrival.
