Vintage baby names that have remained popular for 100 years

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) compile a list of registered births in England and Wales every year, so utilising this information, the most popular names from 1921 to 2021 have been revealed.

Put together by label manufacturer mynametags.com, the results have demonstrated which popular baby names have stood the test of time over the past 100 years.

There are those favoured by the monarchy that keep reappearing but, more interestingly, it would seem that boys’ names are more traditional.

When naming a baby girl, it seems there is more creativity and the freedom to follow the trends; as such, Gwendoline, Doris and Vera were staple in the 1920s but have fallen out of fashion ever since.

More fashionable girl names at the moment include Aria, Luna, Elsa, and Esme, although it will take some time to see if these names remain popular throughout the decades.
