A man was arrested after a car chase led police along narrow country lanes and into a muddy, rutted field where the suspect’s vehicle got stuck.
Essex Police said the suspect was arrested after a pursuit lasting almost 10 minutes in the early hours of Monday morning.
An Audi TT was chased from Colchester’s Northern Approach Road to farmland in Boxted, north of the city, where it became bogged down.
The force said the Audi reached speeds of up to 70mph in 30-40mph zones.
A man in his 30s, from Walton-on-the-Naze, was taken into custody for questioning on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop, drug driving, and possessing a knife.
