VAR change for Rangers tie after ‘arrest’ reports

The Polish FA are investigating “reports of improper behaviour” following a late change of VAR officials for Rangers’ Champions League third round qualifying tie against Dynamo Kyiv.

Bartosz Frankowski and Tomasz Musial were replaced by Uefa before the match in Lublin.

The pair were due to act as VAR and assistant VAR for the game in Lublin, with Polish media saying they had been apprehended by police during a drunken escapade involving a stolen road sign on the eve of the game.

A statement from the governing body said: “The College of Referees of the Polish FA will carry out a detailed analysis of the situation in connection with reports of improper behaviour of two Ekstraklasa referees who were supposed to work on the Champions League qualifying match between Dynamo Kyiv and Rangers FC.”

The replacement officials are also from the Polish FA.
