Two more murder charges after couple die in St Helens arson attack

Two more people have been charged with the murder after a man and a woman died in a suspected arson attack.

Peter Greener, 77, known as Eric, and his partner Sheila Jackson, 83, died in hospital after the blaze at their home on South John Street, St Helens, on 15 July.

Kevin Weetman, 34, of Croxteth Drive, in Aigburth, and Kylie Maynard, 37, of Rydal Street, in Everton, have been charged with murder, conspiring to murder, arson, and conspiring to supply the controlled Class A drug, cocaine.

They have been held in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Merseyside Police said.

A third person, Lee Owens, 46, was charged in July with two counts of murder and arson with intent to endanger life after the fatal fire.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 28 November.

A total of seven other people have been arrested in connection with the case.

“”I would like to remind people this is a live investigation, and to be mindful that anything posted or shared on social media could jeopardise proceedings,” said Det Ch Insp Steve McGrath.

“The best way to help is to pass information on through official channels.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone who may hold information and not yet made themselves known to police.”
