Police investigating a security alert in Keady, County Armagh, in which a viable pipe bomb was found in a car have charged two men.

The discovery was made after a police chase of a white Toyota Landcruiser that began in Lurgan in the early hours of Wednesday morning when the vehicle failed to stop for officers.

The chase ended when a stinger device was deployed in the Keady area, with the device then being found in the car.

The men, aged 22 and 37, are due to appear in court on Friday.

They are charged with possessing explosives in suspicious circumstances, driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without insurance, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

The 37-year-old has also being charged with driving while unfit through drink or drugs.
