Two charged after elderly man killed in Gillingham crash

Two people have been charged after a man in his 80s died when he was hit by a car and carried on top of it.

The man was struck by a grey Mercedes estate on the A289 Gads Hill, in Gillingham, on Monday, Kent Police said.

The force added that the pedestrian “had been carried by the car” and was located on the ground at Grange Road, potentially almost a mile or more from where he was hit.

Albert Matraxhiu, 28, of Orange Hill Road, Edgware, has now been charged with death by dangerous driving, and Erald Paci, 29, of Five Way Court, Chatham, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.
