Two boys arrested following a knife incident at a college have been released on bail, police said.

The pair were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, while police were responding to reports of someone with a knife at Royal Leamington Spa College in Warwickshire on Tuesday.

Another 17-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of attempt to wounding and possession of an offensive weapon remained in custody on Wednesday, Warwickshire Police said.

The college was advised to go into lockdown on Tuesday afternoon with the force adding the incident was “terrifying” for those concerned, but it believed it was part of a disagreement.

No one was hurt and there was no wider risk to the public, it added.

The two boys have been released on bail until the end of November.

The force said it had initially responded to reports of a male with a weapon at the site, and said the two other arrests followed a fight that had broken out while police were at the scene.

The 17-year-old suspect was detained a short time later at his home.

Officers said they were aware of footage of the incident on social media and appealed for anyone with any information that could help inquiries to get in contact.
