“A miraculous little field mouse” has been rescued by firefighters after they spotted it trying to escape smouldering undergrowth.
Crews were called to Walton Grounds, Kings Sutton, Northamptonshire, at about 15:10 BST on Thursday to a grass verge and hedgerow fire when they saw the tiny animal.
“It’s safe to say this mouse was grateful for a drink of some of our water before running off to rejoin his friends,” said a Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson.
They believe the fire was caused by sunlight reflecting on broken glass and urged people to dispose of bottles and other litter responsibly.
