Three Liverpool parade crash victims remain in hospital

Three people remain in hospital after a car drove into crowds of people during Liverpool FC’s victory parade, police have said.

More than 100 people were injured on 26 May when the vehicle hit supporters celebrating on Water Street in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy told a police scrutiny meeting earlier that three of the victims are still in hospital.

Paul Doyle, 53, from Croxteth Park in Liverpool, has been charged with seven offences after the incident and he will next appear in court on 14 August.

He faces charges of wounding with intent, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.

A total of 109 people were injured in the incident, with the youngest being nine years old.

Chief Constable Kennedy said one of the three victims still in hospital had previously been discharged but has since been readmitted.

She said officers were interviewing scores of witnesses and reviewing CCTV and social media footage, much of which has been provided by members of the public.
