Thousands flock to couple’s haunted Halloween house in Yardley

Thousands of visitors have been flocking to a semi-detached house in the West Midlands, which has been transformed into a celebration of all things Halloween.

The home of Darren Mackenzie and Karen Pearce has been decked out with monsters, skeletons and pumpkins taking over the driveway, garage and garden.

Hundreds queued on Friday night to see the attraction on Hob Moor Road, Yardley where the owners are raising money for a mental health charity.

“It’s just crazy,” said Karen, “we’ve had over three thousand through the doors and about five hundred in the queue now”.

She said the display began last October when her partner, Darren, decorated the outside of their house, and “everybody just loves it”.

Support from the local community had been “fantastic,” she added.

“Everybody’s here always talking to us saying how nice it is.”
