Teenager killed after car hit by falling tree named

A teenage driver killed by a falling tree during Storm Éowyn has been named.

Calum Carmichael, 19, was driving a blue Ford Focus on the B743 in Mauchline, East Ayrshire at about 06:45 on Friday when the tree was torn out the ground by strong winds and struck his vehicle.

Emergency crews were called to the scene and transported Mr Carmichael, of New Cumnock, for treatment.

He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, but died from his injuries on Saturday.
