A teenager who died at a popular funfair suffered a suspected seizure and cardiac arrest, an inquest has heard.

Taha Ali Soomro, 16, from Grangetown in Cardiff, suffered the “medical episode” at Barry Island Pleasure Park on 23 May.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene, but later died.

A post-mortem examination at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales proved inconclusive, and on Tuesday a coroner told the inquest the cause of the boy’s death remained “unascertained”.

The funfair’s staff released a statement following Taha’s death, and said they “did their best to assist the emergency services but, unfortunately, the boy suffered a medical emergency and could not be saved”.

A 15-year-old boy, from Grangetown, was arrested on suspicion of assault but has been released on bail.
