T20 World Cup results: David Wiese stars in super over as Namibia beat Oman

David Wiese starred with bat and ball as Namibia survived a scare before eventually edging a battling Oman after a dramatic super over in Bridgetown.

The 39-year-old clubbed 13 runs off four balls to help Namibia post 21-0 in their super over, before bowling Oman’s reply and restricting them to 10-1.

Wiese had earlier taken 3-28 as Oman were skittled out for 109, with Ruben Trumpelmann taking a career-best 4-21 that included two wickets with the first two balls of the match.

Namibia eased to 73-3 after 14 overs, but some superb death bowling from Mehran Khan, who took 3-7, turned a routine chase into a scramble for the line.

With Namibia needing five runs to win off the final over, Mehran took two wickets with the first three deliveries to set up what would have been a stunning victory.

With four needed from two balls a straight drive from Wiese cannoned into the stumps at the non-striker’s end and allowed Namibia to run two, before a scrambled leg bye off the final ball saw them limp to 109-6.
