Glamorgan opener Asa Tribe has not been included in Jersey’s squad for their T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in Cyprus.

Tribe, 22, was part of the England Lions side that toured Australia over the winter and has scored three half-centuries for Glamorgan in the County Championship this season.

But he is expected to play in Glamorgan’s Division One game at Warwickshire starting Friday, before the Welsh side begin their T20 Blast campaign while the qualifying tournament is ongoing, meaning he is unavailable for the island side.

He played in Jersey’s opening match in the final round of qualifying for the 2026 T20 World Cup last summer before returning to the UK to play for Glamorgan.

Jersey are one of 10 teams playing in Europe Sub-regional Qualifier A, starting this weekend – with the winners progressing to the final round of European qualifying next year.

Jersey face hosts Cyprus as well as Croatia, France and Switzerland in pool matches, with the group winner going through to the final against the winners of the other pool.

Tribe’s brother Zak is one of the 14-strong squad heading to Cyprus, which is captained by Charles Perchard.

Wellington all-rounder Nick Greenwood is the only first-class player in the squad which includes experienced campaigners such as Jonty Jenner, Harrison Carlyon and Ben Ward.

Former Worcester Warriors and Jersey Reds rugby player Scott van Breda makes his tournament debut for Jersey, having won caps against Guernsey last season and helping Farmers win the European Cricket League in March 2025.

Also recalled is bowler Dan Birrell who featured in Jersey’s warm-up matches against Denmark this month.

Jersey Squad:

Ben Ward, Charles Perchard (capt), Charlie Brennan, Dan Birrell, Dominic Blampied, George Richardson, Harrison Carlyon, Jonty Jenner, Julius Sumerauer, Nick Greenwood, Patrick Gouge (wk), Scott van Breda, Theo Pullman, Zak Tribe.
