Swansea man’s remains found 28 years after he went missing

The remains of a man who went missing from a care home nearly 28 years ago have been found nearby, an inquest has been told.

David Emrys Gear was 86 when he disappeared from Granville House Nursing Home in Morriston, Swansea, in September 1997, but his body wasn’t found until 20 February this year.

Forensic DNA tests confirmed the remains were Mr Gear’s, the inquest was told.

Coroner Aled Gruffydd heard that the cause of death has yet to be established.

The inquest has been adjourned as the investigation continues.
