Swansea City: Williams hopeful of signings in January transfer window

Williams says Swansea have no imminent signings lined up ahead of before their FA Cup third round tie on Sunday at Premier League Southampton – live on BBC Wales – but says that is not through a lack of trying.

“At the moment I can’t tell you anything fruitful I am afraid, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t working going on because there is, but again that makes me sound like a broken record,” he said.

“Unfortunately with these transactions, some of the moving parts are out of our control and we can be fortunate or less fortunate, depending on circumstances.

“The most important thing is the endeavour and effort going into making signings and I am happy with that.

“But I can’t guarantee a signing walking through the door in the next couple of days as that would be misleading people.”

Williams has previously expressed admiration for Wycombe defender Low, but says he cannot comment further on the Wales international with Swansea understood to have had offers rejected for the centre-back.

Low has played every minute for the Chairboys this season, with the club currently second in League One and pushing for promotion.

“There is nothing I can tell you unfortunately,” he added.

“Until such time that the clubs are on the same page I need to be very respectful as Wycombe are going really well and having a great season and Joe is a really important player there.

“Unless the two clubs are very happy with the situation and feel they can make a deal I don’t think it is fair to talk about that.”

Williams did not dismiss links with Saudi Arabian midfielder Abdulmalik Al-Jaber.

The 20-year-old currently plays for Bosnian side Zeljeznicar.

“There is not loads I can tell you,” he said.

“There is nothing more substantial to talk about than a link.”
