Student kills four people in Turkey’s second school shooting in two days | World News

A student has killed at least four people in Turkey’s second school shooting in two days, officials said.

The student arrived at the school in the southern province of Kahramanmaras armed with five guns and seven magazines in his backpack, provincial governor Mukerrem Unluer said.

The guns are said to belong to the teenager’s father, who is a retired police officer.

He opened fire in two classrooms, killing three students and a teacher, and wounding 20 others, at least four of whom are in serious condition, according to Mr Unluer.

The attacker, who was in the eighth grade at the school, was killed. His motive for the shooting wasn’t immediately known.

This comes just a day after 16 people, including students and teachers, were injured when a former student opened fire at a high school in the nearby Sanliurfa province.

The gunman later turned the gun on himself.

Until this week, school shootings were rare in Turkey.

Footage from Wednesday’s attack showed ambulances arriving at the school, where crowds gathered by the gate.
