Storm Boelo fells trees and leaves home without power

Trees were uprooted and damage was caused as Storm Boelo made its way across the region at the weekend, damaging cars, closing tourist attractions and leaving homes without power.

One motorist had a close miss in Barton-upon-Humber when a tree was uprooted and fell on his car bonnet while he was driving on Toft Road on Sunday morning.

Humberside Police said a man was taken to hospital for checks but was not injured in the incident.

Louis Taylor, whose own car was written off in the same incident, said “another two feet [and] he’d have been killed”.
