Torrential rain brought by Storm Bert led to a coal tip landslide in a former mining community over the weekend.
Residents were forced to flee their homes in Cwmtillery, Blaenau Gwent, after a river of slurry and debris swept through the streets.
It has placed fresh emphasis on the legacy of mining in Wales, with one resident saying it made her think back to the fatal Aberfan disaster in 1966.
Experts have warned that parts of Wales are prone to landslides because of loose material left over from disused coal tips.
