Starmer grilled again about ex-Treasury minister Siddiq during PMQs

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch questioned the prime minister following Tulip Siddiq’s resignation yesterday.

The treasury minister resigned after growing pressure over an anti-corruption investigation in Bangladesh.

She had referred herself to the prime minister’s standards adviser after questions about links to her aunt, who was ousted last year as Bangladesh’s prime minister.

Starmer stressed that his independent standards adviser had concluded “there was no breach of the [ministerial] code… there was no wrongdoing” by Siddiq.
