Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum remembers D-Day

A service of remembrance has taken place at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

At the time, the landings on the Normandy coastline constituted the largest military naval, air and land operation ever attempted.

The service, which began at 14:00 BST, was one of many across the world remembering those who fought and died.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh joined 26 D-Day and Normandy veterans and spoke to them about their memories of the historic day.
