St Mirren challenge Marcus Fraser red card at Tannadice

St Mirren have opted to appeal against Marcus Fraser’s late sending off during Saturday’s 2-0 loss at Dundee United.

The defender gave away two penalties at Tannadice, with referee Matthew MacDermid using the pitchside monitor to review both decisions.

Fraser was not cautioned for the first incident but had a yellow card upgraded to red for the second when he was ruled to have impeded Louis Moult.

“If that’s a red card, we’re all in trouble,” said St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson. “There’s minimal contact and it’s debatable whether it’s a penalty.”

A Scottish FA disciplinary panel will now consider the dismissal, which came on 91 minutes.

Kevin Holt converted the first spot-kick but his second effort was saved by Ellory Balcombe before Emmanuel Adegboyega added another goal for the hosts.
