People have been urged to be considerate with their water usage by a company after supply issues in a town.

Residents of Soham, Cambridgeshire, and its surrounding areas, reported being left without water earlier after a water main burst near the A142.

Anglian Water, which is responsible for providing water to parts of the East of England, said less than 4,000 homes had been affected and the issue had now been resolved.

The UK is experiencing its third heatwave of the year and the temperature is forecast to reach 26C in Soham.

The water company said reports of water supply issues were made on Sunday morning.

Engineers were said to have fixed the issue by 14:00 BST.

Anglian Water asked people to be patient as there could be a slight drop in pressure as people rushed to use the water in their homes.

It also asked people to be “considerate” of their water usage during the heatwave.
