Skydiver who died in County Durham parachute jump named by police

A skydiver who died during a parachute jump has been identified by the police.

Sam Cornwell’s parachute failed to open on Saturday 28 April in Shotton, County Durham, police said.

The 46-year-old from Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene in South West Industrial Estate.

Durham Police said an investigation into Mr Cornwell’s death was ongoing and his death was being treated as “unexpected”.
