Six men arrested for historic child sexual offences in Oxford

Six men in their 40s have been arrested as part of “a complex investigation” into non-recent group-based child sexual exploitation.

Thames Valley Police executed a series of warrants at five properties in Oxford and one in Manchester on 9 July, for the offences that relate to two female victims, who were aged between 13 and 15-years-old in Oxford between 2001 and 2005.

In addition to the six suspects, the force said four further men, also in their 40s, were arrested in South Yorkshire, Buckinghamshire, Nottinghamshire and the Merseyside area.

They have been released on conditional bail to allow for further enquiries to continue.

TVP said the victims were being supported by officers.

Det Insp Robert Underhill said that due to the “sensitive and ongoing investigation” information might not be provided straight away.

“But we will keep the community updated when we can,” he added.

“Tackling child sexual exploitation, both non recent and current, remains an absolute priority for Thames Valley Police and this complex investigation and today’s arrests demonstrate this.

“The news of these warrants could remind people of something that has happened to them in the past which they wish to report to us. We will listen to you and we will support you.”

The force appealed to anyone who suspects a person of carrying out child sexual exploitation, or think someone they know has been or may be a victim, to get in touch.
