Six children rescued in ‘major incident’ at Aberavon beach

Six young children were pulled from the sea in a “major incident” at a popular beach, a rescue team has said.

Port Talbot Coastguard Rescue said it responded to reports of multiple children being in “seriously difficulty” in the sea off the slipway at Aberavon beach, Neath Port Talbot, on Sunday.

Three children were brought safely ashore using a throw line, it said, while rescue officers then entered the water to bring the remaining casualties to safety.

Porthcawl Coastguard also attended and all six children were assessed at the scene before being transferred to the ambulance service for further medical treatment.
