Six arrests in Leicester murder probe after body found

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and five others arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender after a body was found in a house in Leicester.

Police said they were called to Sawley Street by ambulance crews at 01:37 BST on Sunday and found a man, in his 30s, who had suffered a stab wound and was declared dead at the scene.

One man, aged 44, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and another five people, aged between 24 and 53, have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The street has been closed off throughout the day, but the cordon has now been lifted, police said.

All the suspects are currently in custody, officers said.

Det Ch Insp Tim Lindley, said: “We believe the incident happened inside the address in Sawley Street in the early hours of this morning and sadly a man has died as a result.

“The victim and the man currently in custody for murder are known to each other and our priority at this time is to establish exactly what has occurred.”

Police said they were studying CCTV but also appealed to anyone with information to come forward.
