Shanghai Masters: Judd Trump beats Wu Yize 10-6 in semi-finals

World number one Judd Trump will aim for his second Shanghai Masters title after beating world champion Wu Yize 10-6 to reach this year’s final.

Wu, 22, took an early lead in his homeland and went on to make three century breaks at the first major event of the 2026-27 season.

But Trump recovered from a slow start to lead 4-2 and the 2019 world champion did enough to stay in front, compiling two century breaks of his own.

The 36-year-old Englishman will now play in his fifth Shanghai final, having claimed his first win in 2024.

He will face either Kyren Wilson or Zhao Xintong in Sunday’s best-of-21 decider, with the second semi-final taking place on Saturday.

“It is always good to start quickly in Shanghai,” said Trump. “Even though this isn’t a ranking event, it fills you with confidence as you are against the best in the world.

“It will be a great game between Kyren and Xintong. It should be an exciting final whoever I face. It has been a good tournament so far, but you need to get over that line.”
