Shakib Al Hasan cleared to bowl again in ECB competitions

Shakib Al Hasan has been cleared to bowl again in all England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) competitions and The Hundred having previously served a suspension because of his action.

The Bangladesh all-rounder played one game for Surrey in the County Championship in September 2024, and was reported by the umpires.

In December he received a ban after an independent assessment found that his action exceeded the 15-degree threshold allowed by ECB rules.

His action was then reassessed a month later in India, which resulted in a ban from bowling in international cricket and he was not included in Bangladesh’s squad for the recent Champions Trophy.

But the ECB confirmed that another inspection of his action at Loughborough University earlier this month demonstrated he had remedied his action sufficiently to have the suspension lifted.

Former Tigers captain Shakib has played 71 Tests, 247 one-day internationals and 129 T20s for Bangladesh.

He has not yet signed with a county or a Hundred team for 2025.
