Search launched for man feared to have fallen overboard from cruise

A major search has been launched after a passenger was reported missing from a cruise ship docked in Dundee.

Lifeboats and coastguard crews are searching for the man who is feared to have fallen from the Ambassador Ambition before it arrived in the city on Friday.

It is understood that the passenger’s luggage was still onboard and his bed had not been slept in.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said the man’s next of kin had been made aware and inquiries were ongoing.

One passenger told BBC Scotland News that tannoy announcements had repeatedly called the name of a specific passenger during the morning.

The alarm was raised onboard the ship at about 08:35 on Friday, about 36 nautical miles from Arbroath.

They were then told a passenger was missing.
