Scottish woman breaks world sheep shearing record

A woman from St Boswells in the Borders has set the world record for shearing sheep.

Una Cameron, 51, managed to de-fleece 517 sheep in nine hours, in a live-streamed attempt of the women’s record.

Una said she had been shearing since a young age and had been building all her working life towards the world record attempt.

Her team had said the exertion of wrestling sheep into position before removing the fleece meant she would lose several pounds in weight during the marathon shear.

The record was carefully judged on the conditions of the fleece and on how she treated each animal.
