Scotland’s oldest electricity transmission line is being brought down after almost a century of carrying power across Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.
Known as “G-Route”, the line was built in 1929 to help bring power to nearby shipyards and heavy industries.
Reaching the end of their operational lifespan, the ageing steel towers have been gradually pulled down by specialist engineers. They are being replaced with smaller, modernised towers known as “Tridents”, which are made of wood.
