Scotland thwarted by rain against Namibia

Scotland were left disappointed by the rain for a second game running in their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-Series in Namibia.

Their match against Oman was abandoned without a ball bowled on Thursday.

And Monday’s game against the hosts ended with no result as Scotland were unable to bat after Namibia made 189-8 in 46.4 overs in Windhoek.

Scotland have now had six of their 26 matches abandoned – twice as many as any of the other seven sides.

They are currently second in the table, four points behind the United States, who have played two fewer games and have had none abandoned.

Deciding to field, Scotland started well, with Jack Jarvis bowling WP Myburgh for the loss of just one run.

Namibia were 36-4, but a fine partnership between Louren Steenkamp (78) and wicketkeeper Zane Green (62) improved the scoring rate significantly.

Scotland next face Oman on Wednesday, with Namibia taking on Oman on Friday.
