Scarlets welcome back Josh Macleod, but Vaea Fifita ruled out

Scarlets have received mixed news before the United Rugby Championship (URC) home derby against Cardiff on Saturday.

Number eight Vaea Fifita has been ruled out for a “couple of weeks” with a knee problem sustained in the 20-20 draw with Benetton, but captain Josh Macleod is set to return after a nine-month absence following a shoulder injury suffered in January.

Macleod is among a number of players who could return this weekend alongside fellow flanker Dan Davis, props Alec Hepburn and Henry Thomas, centre Eddie James and fly-half Sam Costelow, while lock Sam Lousi is close to coming back from a hamstring injury.

Hepburn and Thomas are in line to make their competitive debuts after arriving at Scarlets in the summer from Exeter and Castres respectively.
