Runner Aaron Johnston, 24, dies after finishing Glasgow half marathon

The family of a 24-year-old man who died after completing a half marathon in Glasgow have paid tribute to their “precious” son and brother, and said they were heartbroken by his death.

Aaron Johnston, from Enniskillen in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, had finished the run around Glasgow Green on Sunday when he became ill and emergency services were called.

Mr Johnston was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died a short time later.

In a statement shared on social media, the family said: “We are completely heartbroken that our precious Aaron Johnston, son of Niall and Joy and brother to Hayley, Adam and Jessica, died suddenly yesterday.
