Rubin Colwill: Cardiff City midfielder set for lay-off due to ankle injury

Colwill, 23, has been an influential figure for Cardiff this season, playing in all 15 league games to date.

Despite his early exit at Northampton, Barry-Murphy’s team climbed back to the top of League One thanks to a hard-fought 3-1 victory, with Joel Colwill and Chris Willock scoring either side of an Ethan Wheatley own goal.

Joel Colwill was also forced off after suffering a gash on the knee, though Cardiff are less concerned about his issue.

“I think Rubin will be out for a period for sure. Joel’s is a cut so he should be back pretty quickly,” Barry-Murphy said.

Cardiff will be back in action when they host Mansfield Town next weekend, with Rubin Colwill set for a scan to ascertain the extent of his problem.
