Road closed in St Ives after 24 tonnes of food waste spilled

A road has been closed in both directions after 24 tonnes of food waste were spilled by a lorry.

Cambridgeshire Police said it had been called to Harrison Way on the A1096 in St Ives at 07:25 BST on Monday.

Travel information supplier Inrix said the spillage had happened between Hemingford Road and Meadow Lane.

Police said a clean-up operation was being carried out by the highway authorities.
