Following Sir Paul McCartney’s personal photos exhibition with unseen stills of the Fab Four, Sir Ringo Starr has followed suit and released some of his own.
This week on social media, the drummer posted snaps he took during The Beatles’ heyday.
These include one of John Lennon and Paul McCartney recording at Abbey Road Studios, George Harrison smiling on a yacht in Cannes and the first-ever photo of Ringo behind his drums at Liverpool’s Cavern Club. Fans can have a flick through below.
The 83-year-old shared on Instagram: “Celebrating 60 years of The Beatles in the USA and the 50th anniversary of Genesis Publications, Ringo Starr is unveiling seven new additions to The PHOTOGRAPH Portfolio.
“Stunning landscape pictures, taken during Ringo’s travels across the world, join these intimate portraits. Ringo shot on classic black-and-white and vibrant colour film and experimented with flash photography and infrared effects, all of which can be seen in this new and updated collection.”
The Beatles drummer said: “We always had a professional photographer to take photos of us, but I just loved taking pictures and I still do.”
These are the music legend’s limited edition museum quality prints, which are being reproduced from negative for the first time in large format, with just 25 numbered copies being made worldwide.
Sir Ringo “is donating all royalties from The Photograph Portfolio to The Lotus Foundation. The publishers are also making a donation from every purchase to the same charity.
