Ricardo Santos: Swansea City defender close to Reading move

Ricardo Santos is close to leaving Swansea City for Reading after the clubs agreed a fee for the centre-back.

Santos has endured a frustrating spell at Swansea since joining on a free transfer following his release by Bolton Wanderers last summer.

The 30-year-old has made only one Swans appearance – as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat at Bristol City in November – having been behind club captain Ben Cabango, Cameron Burgess and on-loan West Ham youngster Kaelan Casey in the queue for game-time in central defence.

Santos’ attempts to establish himself at Swansea have not been helped by injury, with a knee problem seeing him miss the first six weeks of the season.

He has also had a hip problem in recent weeks, but has been in training with Vitor Matos’ squad.
