Firefighters are tackling a large blaze at an industrial site.

Gwent Police advised people living locally to ensure doors and windows were closed following the callout at Capital Valley Eco Park, Rhymney, Caerphilly county, on Friday night.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service advised people to avoid the area after sending nine crews to the scene.

Diversions have been put in place with the A469 closed between B4257 Carno Street and Heol Evan Wynne.

Natural Resources Wales said it was assisting fire crews at the scene and advised people to follow advice issued by the fire service and “avoid entering the River Rhymney for your safety – pets included – due to possible contaminants”.
