The Renfrew Bridge has re-opened after it was closed over four days due to a mechanical fault.
The bridge – part of a £117m project – opened in May this year and links the Renfrewshire town with Yoker and Clydebank on the north bank of the Clyde.
It closed on Friday after maintenance work discovered a flaw on the structure.
However Renfrewshire Council said a further extended closure would take place on Wednesday to complete repairs.
Vehicles and pedestrians were forced to use alternative routes like the Clyde Tunnel and the Erskine Bridge, due to the bridge being closed.
A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Renfrew Bridge has re-opened following a mechanical issue and is now available to road users, pedestrians and cyclists.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. A further extended closure will be required on Wednesday 12 November to complete the permanent repair.
“The latest information on the bridge availability will be on the Renfrew Bridge web page and the Bridge WhatsApp channel.”
The 184m (604ft) bridge is the first road crossing on the river capable of opening to allow large ships to pass.
As well as a two-lane crossing for drivers, it offers access to cyclists and pedestrians.
Upon opening in May it marked the second new bridge over the Clyde in a year, after a pedestrian crossing opened between Govan and Partick in September 2024.
