Police are trying to trace the driver of a red van following a serious crash on the A75 in Dumfries and Galloway.

The accident happened at about 11:20 near Skyreburn and involved a white Peugeot Partner van and a red Suzuki Ignis.

Officers said a red van heading east was also involved and may have damage to its offside wing mirror.

The road has been closed in both directions and police have asked for the red van driver to come forward and contact them.

It is the second serious crash in the area in the space of about 24 hours.

An eight-year-old girl was taken to hospital after an accident on the A747 on Tuesday.
